The TFT
Now on to this project's real eye catcher: the front.
I wanted to use a reasonably large display in the front of the case - I found a 7" TFT display that fit the bill perfectly: it has a 1024x768 resolution and is remote controlled. I was hoping that the screen would just slide right into the drive bay, but unfortunately it didn't - there were a few millimetres on each side that had to be trimmed away to allow for it to slide away. After some grinding with the dremel, the screen was a perfect fit inside the drive bay.
With the screen in place, it was time to add one feature that would really catch the eye. I managed to get hold of an old German gas mask - this and my chosen case were almost a match made in heaven. As before, to make it Giger-style I had to apply even more putty - this was then moulded and dremelled in the same way that I did the side panels.
After about 15 hours of dremel work the front of the case was ready for a layer of undercoat. At last, I was able to test the TFT screen with the front all painted and mounted.
